Specters (2020)
The music video for Lisel’s song “Specters” was made through remote collaboration in quarantine, evoking the tension between total immersion in our interior spaces and a longing for the world beyond our front doors. The video was made almost entirely through the computer camera and effects generated by mis-using Zoom--harnessing the rectangular, pixelated gaze we've all accepted as our primary way to access connection, meaning, and an understanding of our new reality. There's intimacy, love, but also heaviness in our created home worlds as we confront our vulnerability to forces more powerful than us. The beginning of the video embraces the beauty of the mundane and the small, but by the end, we acquiesce to the power of the "flood" which overtakes us.
